Calidad Industries, a 501(c)3 nonprofit affiliate created by Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay in 1989, has been participating in United States government contracts as set aside under the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Act for more than 15 years. The Calidad Program helps persons living with medically-certified severe physical, mental, or psychological impairments on their way to economic independence.
Calidad workers living with severe and long-term disabilities receive paid on-the-job skills training and stable employment. Additionally, Calidad provides life skills training specifically developed to encourage personal and vocational growth and offers access to all of Goodwill’s workforce development services and computer literacy training to help participants secure and retain competitive employment.
Calidad’s workers living with disabilities, most of whom have little or no work experience prior to their involvement with Calidad, perform 75% of all direct labor used to deliver contract services. Contract services range from custodial and food services to administrative support, warehousing, facilities maintenance, and mailroom operations.
Calidad Industries is a NISH-certified Community Rehabilitation Program. To learn more about this certification and and the JWOD program, please visit NISH.
