Mission

Established in 1990 to participate in Unite States Government contracts set aside under the AbilityOne Program, formerly known as the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Program, Calidad is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay.  Calidad provides paid on-the-job skills training and job placement services to persons with severe and long-term disabilities.

The AbilityOne Act promotes training and employment of individuals with severe physical, mental, or psychological impairments. Calidad Industries serves as a participating Non-Profit Agency (NPA) defined in this legislation, and receives periodic compliance reviews by federal agencies Calidad workers with disabilities perform 75 percent of all direct labor used to complete the services required on the contract. Our vocational training program also provides Life Skills Workshops specifically developed to encourage personal and vocational growth, leading to future opportunities for competitive employment.
