Goodwill Celebrating its 90th Anniversary
Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay announces that 2009 marks its 90th year anniversary serving the community. Since 1919, we have been helping those in need throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties obtain the vocational training, job readiness, and employment placement services they need to become self-sufficient. Goodwill welcomes the community to join us in celebrating this milestone with us at our 90th Anniversary Gala and our open houses throughout the year.
“Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is very proud to have reached this milestone in our history of having helped those facing barriers to employment for 90 years. Over these years, we helped more than 100,000 of our community members in need, said John B. Latchford, President & CEO. “While 2009 poses challenges to the agency as demand for services is rising while funding resources are dwindling, we are confident that Goodwill will continue to be a leader in workforce development, helping individuals and families receive the skills training and support they need to become self-sufficient. Our 90 years of success at helping the community, even through tough economic periods, not only beckons us to reflect on our accomplishments but gives us the confidence to look toward the future and ensure that we are meeting the community’s needs for the next 90 years,” he added.
Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is celebrating with a 90th Anniversary Gala on March 21, 2009 at the Lake Merritt Hotel in Oakland, California. The agency is also hosting on-site open house events for the public to visit and learn more about our mission and programs. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available for our 90th Anniversary Gala.
