Solano County Job Services
Goodwill’s newest program is the Solano County Job Services program. This program operates in conjunction with the County’s Health and Human Services Department to help those most in need throughout Solano County. The Job Services program provides job readiness and search assistance, placement into transitional and permanent employment, and support services. A clothing closet is also available to help prepare participants for interviews and job search activities.
On of the main components of the Solano Job Services Program is the Job Club. This service is available through referral from the Solano County Health and Human Services Department and consists of five days of participation in the Job Club in which participants learn the fundamentals of searching for employment, writing resumés, interviewing, and working in a business environment. After successful completion of this 5-day training, participants receive 4-6 weeks of intensive job search assistance, during which they are expected to contact a minimum of five employers each day, with the goal of their securing competitive employment.
To help support participants in their search for competitive employment, Goodwill maintains a Clothing Closet. Each participant is permitted 1-2 interview outfits from the selection. The Clothing Closet is made possible by targeted donations from the community, which are separate from the materials donations made to the Donation Centers for Goodwill Industries.
